Hello, Friends! I’ve officially moved to 9th&Mayne and will be doing a soft launch tomorrow, Sept. 27. I will be posting there from now on so please join me and sign up for my newsletter to receive discounts and updates. I’ll see you there!

A Few Updates ; This blog, 9th&mayne and Fashion Flats Print (for those that helped me with my campaign)

{Two of my birthday cards, soon to be added to my Etsy Shop}

Shesh! That’s a long title but it had to be done. hehe

It’s been super busy around here. I’m recovering from a summer of having 7 kids home, activities and starting a business. Lucky for me, all of them are in school all day. I’m so excited for them…and me.

Anyway, here’s my updates:

1. I’ve decided to not direct this site to my new one. This site will stay as is, with no further posting. This site tells my story of being a closet artist and overcoming my fears. I want this blog to help others do the same. I will start posting regulary on my new blog so I’d love for you to subscribe to my newsletter or/and posts via RSS.

2. 9th&Mayne is now open for your viewing pleasure. I’m still working on finishing touches on the site and blog so check back often. I’m working on my product photography so I don’t have many available to see. The Etsy Shop is open….don’t judge the product pics, it’s a work in progress. I have just one item listed but I’ll be adding more very soon!

3. As promised, I have the Fashion Flats print available to those who participated in my Epson Printer Campaign. I do have a favor tho, because there are over 50 of you who helped me out, the shipping will be costly. So, I’ve decided to offer a printable Fashion Flats Print or, if you don’t mind paying shipping, I will send you the print for $2.50.

Please click here to subscribe to this form so I can keep all of you organized. Type PRINTABLE or USPS so I know which you prefer. I will not share this info and will not sign you up for anything.

Thank you all for the support and encouragement you’ve given me. You Rock!

Sneak Peek

9th-and-mayne-playful-illustrations-and-artwork

I’m so excited to share this with you all. This is the logo for my new shop/website, 9th & Mayne.  The website isn’t up yet but it will be soon. I’ll have cards, prints, stationery, etc. in my shop….yeehaw!

When I started this blog I was focusing on Fashion Illustration but as I ‘exposed’ my art it grew into these playful little people that I love. I’m so, so excited about my illustrations and products, I can’t stand it.

I’m amazed at what I’ve learned in the last 5 months. I went from not showing my work to loving it and that’s just what this blog was for….yay! for blogs.

Thank you all for your support!!  {{hugs}}

This blog will, most likely, be directed to 9thandmayne.com in the next few days. I’ll continue to blog, just on the new site.

Talk to you soon.

My New Adventure :: Coming Soon!

018

This is my workspace, isn’t it lovely. It’s only a small portion of my office but it’s the messiest for sure. I took the pic with Instagram, it’s one of my favorite apps.

Since starting this blog, I’ve learned a lot about my ‘Artist Self’. I learned that I’m an Artist, but more specifically, I’m an Illustrator. I also learned to embrace my artistic style, it may not fit everyone’s style but it fits me and who I am.

This blog was originally just a place to expose my Artist Self but it turned into much more for me. It helped me uncover what kind of artist/illustrator I am and want to be…finally! It also gave me courage to move forward with my art goals. yay!

So, I’ve decided to open a art and stationery shop with my illustrations…a dream of mine since I was a little girly. I’m very excited about my new adventure but with every adventure comes change…

Over the next couple weeks this site will get a facelift and become a parent site for my new adventures. This blog will still be available and continue to be updated, it just won’t be on the front page.

I look forward to sharing my new adventure with you all. See you soon!

P.S. I owe lots of my self discovery to Paint Party Friday. Thank you, EVA and Kristin, for providing a wonderful place for artists to share their art…no matter their level. You Rock!

Paint Party Friday and PostCard Swap

postcard-swap-watercolor-girls

Hello all! I’m excited to share my postcards for Kats Postcard Swap. This is my first swap and I’m way excited. I’ll be sending off my postcards tomorrow…yay!

I painted these with watercolors, scanned & cleaned them up a bit in Photoshop, then printed them with my trusty printer and 110lb cardstock. I used a corner punch to round the edges.

I added a little note on the back…I love handwritten notes…don’t you?

It’s all here… postcards, address labels, stamps and thank you note to Kat. I’m totally loving the glassine envelopes I got. Love!

I used another glassine envelope to put the postcards and other items in, looks good right!

I’m ready for another swap…anyone up for swapping postcards?

I hope you all are having a wonderful Paint Party Friday. I look forward to visiting all your blogs. I didn’t make it around much last week..bad.

Paint Party Friday :: Pretty Flowers

3-flowers-650px

I’m a bit late to Paint Party Friday but…better late than never right? I’ve been sketching flowers and had to paint up this set. I’m on a rose-y-red and green kick lately.

I’ll be back next week with updates on the Fashion Flats and other items I’m working on…see you soon!

Paint Party Friday, I love you! EVA and Kristin, you Rock!

Homemade Table top Easel

tabletop-easel

My dad made me this table top easel, cool right! I found one like it on Google, the best place on earth to learn ANYTHING! and sent off a pic to him and poof, it’s here. It’s getting lots of use too.

It has a ledge on both sides, the top one is to keep paper, pencils, etc. from slipping off and the bottom one is to stop the easel from moving. Fancy, fancy! The ledges also make it easy to carry when collapsed, it’s heavy though so I don’t carry it much.

This is the back view, aren’t those hinges so pretty?! It has 3 different notches for the perfect height. I usually use the notch shown but if I’m standing I use the others.

So, what do you think about my portable table top easel?

Want one for yourself? I bet I could talk MY Dad, the Marine, into making a tutorial or something, he’s cool like that.

Sea Shell Watercolors and Paint Party Friday

sea-shells

Hi friends! I’m back for another week of Paint Party Friday fun, after being gone for two fridays…you can find out why in my previous post. I’ve missed it!

I painted these shells when I was missing Oregon, Newport to be exact. We went on a 11 day vacation last year and my favorite part was Newport…I miss it so much. I want to go back.

This was my first attempt at painting shells and I have to say it was harder than anticipated. I wanted them to look different than the way they turned out so I guess I’ll need to try and try until I get the result I want. Darn, more time in my studio, painting. Ha! Shut the door, lock it and throw away the key and slide chocolate under the door every now and then.

I’m thinking of trying Dr. Ph. Martin’s Hydrus Fine Art Watercolors. Anyone tried them before?

Thank you EVA and Kristin for bringing Paint Party Friday to us every week. You Rock!
